State Representative Su Ryden (D-Aurora)
Rep. Su Ryden is serving her second term as the state representative for House District 36 in Aurora. She is a member of the Judiciary Committee and the Agriculture, Livestock & Natural Resources Committee. Her priority issues are families, education and small business.
Legislation introduced by Rep. Ryden will help ensure the future viability of Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora by preventing development too close to the base. She closed an age gap in Colorado’s child safety seat law to require that all children are properly secured when traveling in motor vehicles. She extended reporting requirements for consumer protection to more than a dozen healthcare professions and established the HOA Information Office in the Division of Real Estate to provide information to homeowners and homeowners’ association board members.
Rep. Ryden is a lifelong Democrat, longtime Aurora resident, business owner and an active community supporter. She owns Ryden & Associates Integrated Marketing, a firm which provides communications solutions for clients in many fields including banking, real estate, affordable housing and hospitality.
Rep. Ryden has served on Aurora’s Historic Preservation Commission, the Aurora Fox Arts Center Board, the Aurora Chamber of Commerce and other local bodies. She was honored with the Women in Business “Unsung Hero” Award by the Aurora Chamber, the Elizabeth Johnson Award by the Aurora Historic Preservation Commission, and the McDonough Award for Outstanding Service to Alumni by the University of Denver.
Rep. Ryden is a graduate of the University of Denver. She has been married to her husband Jerome for 44 years. Their son Armand and his wife are physicians in Los Angeles.
